Results

SWIMMING

Hannah Clarke (S6) competed in the 100m Breaststroke and finished 9th overall, picking up a PB on the way in a time of 2:06.33.

Jonathon Cummings (S6) came 8th overall in the 100m Backstroke with a time of 1:29.26 and a PB in the 400m Freestyle finishing 9th in 5:50.54.

Stephen Campbell (S11) finished 15th overall in the 100m Freestyle in a time of 1:08.08, 10th in the 100m Butterfly with a PB of 1:16.28 and 10th overall in the 400m Freestyle with another PB of 5:28.43.

FOOTBALL

Mark Jones, along with his Irish team-mates finished 6th overall in the men’s 7-a-side football.

EQUESTRIAN

Eilish Byrne (Gr.II) finished 8th in the Individual Freestyle Test and 11th in the Individual Test Championships.

ROWING

Karen Cromie (TRMix2) competed in the Trunk and Arms Mixed Pairs where Karen and her rowing partner finished 5th overall.

ATHLETICS

Michael McKillop (T37) won the Gold medal and broke the World Record in a time of 1:59.39.

Jason Smyth (T13) won Gold in the 100m and 200m setting New World Records in both in times 10.62 and 21.43 respectively.

IRELAND

The Irish team experienced their most successful Games to date. The squad of 45 athletes returned home with 5 medals (3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze), 5 world records and a final position of 34th on the medal table. Contributing to the team’s success were the following athletes:

PARALYMPICS GB

With an impressive squad of 206 athletes, Paralympics GB were hopeful of a top 3 placing in the medal table. However no one expected the impressive medal hall of 102 medals including 42 Gold to put them in second place just behind China.
