  • Valley Business Centre, Newtownabbey, BT36 7LS. (Get Directions)

Northern Ireland (NI) Weightlifting is the governing body for both weightlifting and para-powerlifting in NI.  NI Weightlifting has undergone significant changes in the last 5 years resulting in a 10-fold increase in membership, increased opportunities to compete, restructuring of certification of coaching and technical officials which has led to the largest ever number of NI lifters being selected to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. On the back of the transformation in able-bodied weightlifting success they have set ambitious targets to develop the scope of their para-powerlifting responsibilities.  Recently, NI Weightlifting have been in discussion with Disability Sport NI to develop para-powerlifting within NI.

To support this there will be a Para Powerlifting development evening held in February. This will be an introductory session to Power Lifting for people with a physical disability and people with sight loss aged 8+ years old.

Date: Wednesday 28th February 2018

Time: 7pm - 9pm

Venue: GoLift Weightlifting Club, Valley Business Centre, Newtownabbey, BT36 7LS.
