Membership
Disability Sports NI is a membership organisation representative of the vast majority of Northern Ireland’s disability sports clubs and organisations. The organisation currently has over 100 member groups made up of disability sports groups, special schools, adult centres and residential homes.
Voting Membership Categories There are three voting membership categories as outlined below:
Club Membership This category is open to disability groups and clubs who provide sports or recreation opportunities to people with disabilities. Members are entitled to nominate their representative or the representative of another member group to a seat on the Board of Directors, and to vote in the election of the Board of Directors.
School Membership This category is open to special or mainstream schools responsible for the education of children with disabilities. Members are entitled to nominate their representative or the representative of another member group to a seat on the Board of Directors, and to vote in the election of the Board of Directors.
Adult Centre Membership This category is open to day centres or residential homes providing services to people with disabilities. Members are entitled to nominate their representative or the representative of another member group to a seat on the Board of Directors, and to vote in the election of the Board of Directors.
Non-Voting Associate Membership Categories There are two non-voting membership categories as outlined below:
Associate Membership This category is open to statutory or voluntary organisations involved in the promotion or delivery of sports, recreation, physical education or health related services to people with disabilities. Associate members are entitled to attend AGM, but do not have nomination or voting rights.
Honorary Individual Membership These positions are awarded by the Board of Trustees to individuals who have made an important contribution to the work of Disability Sports NI. Honorary individual members are entitled to attend the AGM, but do not have nomination or voting rights. |
