Disability Sport NI has supported Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy teams working with patients who have spinal injuries in Musgrave Park Hospital to set up a multi-sport club. Members of the club have experienced a range of Paralympic sports to encourage regular participation in a local club when they return home. This has proven successful with participants joining local clubs in sports including wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball & angling'.
Carmel Lavery, Musgrave Hospital Senior Occupational Therapist for Spinal Injuries said, 'Just finished the sports session there today and wanted to pass on positive feedback! We all noticed a big difference having you there today. The Patients definitely showed improvement in skills and ability and it was great to have a variety of sports to do with the result that the Patients were keen to stay on for a longer session.’
