What We Provide

Disability Sport NI provides sport and active recreation opportunities for disabled people and supports talented disabled sports people. We work hard to encourage a more inclusive society through supporting clubs and governing bodies to be more inclusive of disabled people and supporting sports facilities to be accessible for all.

Our team also provide training for coaches, leaders and teachers whilst promoting positive attitudes towards disabled people through educational projects.

The Disability Sport NI Active Clubs Programme, funded by The Big Lottery Fund through Sport NI supports the Musgrave Spinal Unit by delivering weekly sports sessions to inpatients.

Disability Sport NI has supported Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy teams working with patients who have spinal injuries in Musgrave Park Hospital to set up a multi-sport club. Members of the club have experienced a range of Paralympic sports to encourage regular participation in a local club when they return home. This has proven successful with participants joining local clubs in sports including wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball & angling'.

"Despite our very best efforts, the reality remains that the vast majority of people with disabilities in Northern Ireland simply do not currently get the opportunity to participate in a sport or physical activity of their choosing. With your help we can change this."
