2018 Northern Ireland BC1 - BC5 Boccia Championships Round Two Results

Mon 21st May 2018

Antrim Forum played host to the 2nd round of games in the Northern Ireland BC1 - BC5 Boccia Championship and spectators were treated to another marvellous day of competition across all classifications with a number of the games being decided in the last ends.

In the BC1/2 section Claire Taggart leads the way with an impressive unbeaten record thus far in the competition. Taggart has scored heavily in all her matches and looks to be hitting form at the right time of the season. Scott Cromie and William Graham are competing well also in this section with both players currently tied on 12 points.

In the BC3 section Ballyclare duo Hannah Uprichard & Robyn McBride have been playing superbly and both look set to meet in the BC3 final which is sure to be a hotly contested game. Robert McCune & Daniel Elliott will be also keen to pick things up on the final day when they will battle out for 3rd and 4th places.

In the BC4/5 competition the players are split into two pools of 4 players. In pool A the experienced Joe McVeigh and impressive debutant Paul McLister have been in top form so far and look set to qualify for the semi finals. While in Pool B it’s Caroline Millar and William Auld who are in control of the group at this stage and will be hopeful of securing the semi final places.

An exciting element of the competition thus far has been the number of new players that have emerged in all classifications and really shown a high level of ability to play Boccia competitively.

Attention now turns to June 2nd when the finals of this competition takes place, it promises to be a special occasion for everyone involved in Boccia within Northern Ireland as we host National Boccia Finals for the first time.
