Disability Sport NI would like to say a special thanks to Strandtown Primary School for their very generous donation of £250.
We were delighted to attend their disability awareness assembly hosted by the School Council and be presented a cheque for £250 alongside Guide Dogs NI and Mencap who also received a £250 donation each.
The donation stems from a programme where Year 6 school councillors were encouraged to think about others instead of themselves and to think of acting in a selfless way rather than a selfish way. The school council chose to focus on making a difference through disability awareness.
Disability Sport NI’s Communications and Engagement Officer Andrea Herron attended the assembly with her colleague Assistant Sports Development Officer Luke Marshall to accept the cheque and tell the pupils more about Disability Sport NI. Speaking of the assembly Andrea commends the pupils saying, “It was fantastic to meet pupils with such a passion and enthusiasm for charity and supporting disability. “
The pupils have shown great initiative in researching disability charities and making informed decisions on which three they will support through the programme. We are very grateful at Disability Sport NI to be one of their chosen charities.”
