Canoe Association Northern Ireland has been awarded Disability Sport NI’s Inclusive Sport Award in recognition of their commitment to actively including more people with disabilities in their sport.
The award was presented to James Birrell from Canoe Association Northern Ireland who was delighted to receive it commenting, “Everyone at Canoe Association Northern Ireland deeply values the Inclusive Sport Award from Disability Sport NI and we look forward to working with the charity on an ongoing basis to implement our action plan.
“Our team are fully committed to including disabled people in canoeing and would encourage anyone to contact us if they would like to know more about our sport.”
Speaking of the award, Disability Sport NI Performance Pathways Manager Elaine Reid said, “It is a great pleasure to present the Inclusive Sport Award to Canoe Association Northern Ireland. The commitment of the organisation’s team of staff, officials and volunteers to support the inclusion of people with disabilities in the sport of canoeing is impressive.
“We look forward to continuing to support the inclusion work of the organisation, particularly through the development of a more inclusive workforce, a more inclusive competitor pathway and a new inclusive coaching pathway.
“Canoe Association Northern Ireland is the ninth governing body of sport to receive the award.”
