Financial support is crucial for athletes to compete and excel in their sport.

Disability Sport NI can apply for financial support on behalf of boccia and wheelchair basketball athletes. We may also be able to apply on behalf of athletes who are not currently supported by their sports national governing body.

Funding opportunities for Northern Ireland athletes:

Sport NI Sporting Winners Investment Programme
The Sport NI Sporting Winners Investment Programme aims to help more Northern Ireland athletes win at the highest level. Disability Sport NI provides support for performance level athletes involved in boccia and wheelchair basketball through the Sporting Winners Programme. Athletes involved in other sports should access the programme through their national governing body.

District Council Awards
Athletes competing at a representative level may be eligible for support through their local council. Please visit your local council website for specific information on what support may be available or contact the Sports Development Officer/ team within your council area.

The Mary Peters Trust
The Mary Peters Trust is a charitable trust which has been set up to provide financial support to talented individuals who demonstrate potential to compete with credit at an International level or with distinction in British and Irish Championships. Funding is available to athletes over the age of twelve, to help cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with your sport. Your sports national governing body must apply for this fund on your behalf. Disability Sport NI can submit nominations on behalf of athletes involved in boccia and wheelchair basketball and other not currently supported by their national governing body.
