Disability Sport NI Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Recovery Statement

 Fri 10th July 2020

A phased return of our sports and active recreation programmes.

Further to the temporary suspension of all Disability Sport NI’s programmes, competitions and events on 14th March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and in line with the latest government advice, we have now taken a decision to begin a phased and gradual return of our sport and active recreation programmes from Monday 3rd August.

This will begin with both indoor and outdoor non-contact sports and active recreation sessions for small groups on demand at locations and venues throughout Northern Ireland.

Indoor training sessions for athletes involved in our performance programmes for the Paralympic sports of boccia and wheelchair basketball will also resume in August and September on dates to be agreed in consultation with athletes.

Disability Sport NI’s return to sport and active recreation will be monitored closely to ensure that all activities are delivered safely with enhanced health and safety procedures in place to manage and mitigate risk.

Throughout the period of our phased return to programmes we will also continue to provide a range of online videos and resources to encourage and support everyone to Stay Active and Stay Connected while at home.

Please note that the Disability Sport NI office will be closed from 13th July – 17th July 2020 inclusive. If you have any urgent enquiries during this time please email aherron@dsni.co.uk.
