The Disability Sport NI Inclusive Sport Award is designed to recognise Governing Bodies of sport who make a commitment to creating an inclusive sports environment for people with disabilities.
Since the introduction of the Sport NI Disability Mainstreaming Policy in 2005, Disability Sport NI has worked closely with a number of key governing bodies of sport in order to support and encourage the development of player pathways for people with disabilities. While some governing bodies have successfully developed inclusive player pathways, others are just beginning to address the under representation of people with disabilities in their sport.
The Inclusive Sport Award will aknowledge the achievements of those governing bodies who have improved sports provision for people with disabilities and will provide the necessary support and guidance to others who wish to work towards developing an inclusive sports environment.
