Inclusive Governing Bodies
The Disability Sport NI Inclusive Sport Award is designed to recognise Governing Bodies of sport who have made a commitment to creating an inclusive sports environment for disabled people.
Supporting & Encouraging
Since the introduction of the Sport NI disability mainstreaming policy in 2005, Disability Sport NI has worked closely with a number of Governing Bodies of sport to actively develop a more inclusive sporting environment for disabled people.
Through the Inclusive Sport Award, Disability Sport NI aims to support and encourage Governing Bodies to create more opportunities for disabled people to participate, perform, coach, officiate and volunteer in a variety of sports.
Governing Bodies will be guided and supported by Disability Sport NI through each stage of the Inclusive Sport Award and will be required to evidence their work in order to progress through the pathway of the award.

Why get involved?
The Inclusive Sport Award will acknowledge the achievements of those governing bodies who have improved sports provision for disabled people and will provide the necessary support and guidance to others who wish to work towards developing an inclusive sports environment.
As Governing Bodies progress through the award, they will develop and build upon the work they have achieved at each stage, improving
their sports knowledge, awareness and capacity to provide opportunities for disabled people to participate in their sport. The Inclusive Sport Award is designed across a pathway made up of three stages:
1. Commit
2. Develop
3. Embed
In order to achieve each stage of the Inclusive Sport Award, Governing Bodies will be required to present and evidence their work to a Disability Sport NI panel for review.
